About WordWave Studio

This is what happens when someone who loves AI but hates their own voice builds a tool. WordWave Studio exists because I needed it, and Google's ridiculously generous free tier made it possible. No BS, no corporate speak—just a straightforward way to turn text into audio without making me cringe at my own nasal voice.

Why This Exists

I love AI, hate my voice, and got tired of not being able to customize NotebookLM scripts. Google's free tier made it possible to build what I actually wanted. That's it. That's the mission.

Real Talk: Why I Actually Built This

Here's the honest story: I'm obsessed with AI stuff, but I have a problem—I hate my own voice. Like, seriously hate it. I was watching a Microsoft Teams meeting recording the other day and thought "damn, do I really sound this nasal?" 😅

I loved NotebookLM's podcast feature, but it frustrated me that I couldn't change the script. I wanted control over what was being said, but I didn't want to hear my own voice saying it.

The "aha" moment: Google has this incredibly generous free tier for their AI APIs. Like, stupidly generous. Why not build something that lets me (and other founders) create audio content without sounding nasal?

This is a fit-for-founder tool because every feature exists because I needed it myself:

  • Quick script generation (because I'm too lazy to write everything myself)
  • Multiple voice options (because my voice is... not great)
  • Fast processing (because I have zero patience)
  • No complicated UI (because I'm not a designer)

Brutally honest disclaimer: Google could change their pricing tomorrow and this whole model could break. But right now? It's amazing what you can build when a tech giant is basically subsidizing your infrastructure. I'll ride this wave as long as it lasts.

"I built WordWave because I wanted it to exist, and Google's free tier made it possible. That's literally it."

The Economics (Because Transparency)

What Google Gives Me for Free

  • • Insane amount of text-to-speech requests
  • • Multiple voice models and languages
  • • Decent quality audio output
  • • Fast processing (usually)

This is why WordWave can exist at current pricing.

What Could Go Wrong

  • • Google decides to change pricing (their choice)
  • • Usage gets too high, hits paid tiers
  • • API reliability issues (rare but happens)
  • • Competition forces them to reduce free tier

If the free tier ever goes away, you'll always have affordable paid options. WordWave will continue to operate with sustainable pricing that keeps your costs predictable and reasonable.
